The CIRC Program offered at MacKillop Education Services Metro is a specialist education support service designed to meet the individual needs of young people living in out of home care. We aim to support and enhance opportunities for young people to remain engaged or re-engage in education. We aim to collaborate and work in partnership with young people, carers, case managers and schools to improve educational outcomes for all young people living in residential care.

What we can offer:

  • develop school-based trauma-informed strategies including positive support plans and adjusted curriculum intervention
  • provide coordination, liaison and support necessary to initiate or maintain student involvement in education
  • provide and purchase services that are directed at overcoming barriers for a student to achieve their full potential
  • work collaboratively with the education sector, community services, parents and carers to achieve the desired educational outcomes for students.
  • assist with the development of an Individual Education Plan
  • provide one-on-one outreach support sessions
  • provide support for student transitions and pathways in education.
  • promote positive educational outcomes as guided by the Out-of-Home Care Partnering Agreement between the Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
