All children need a voice following a disaster. But not all get a chance to talk about their experiences or to process their feelings — often because of their families’ loss of loved ones, homes, jobs or livelihood.
Australians have opened their hearts to those fighting and fleeing the fires right now, but you can also help those affected to recover from their inevitable trauma that can otherwise have a long-term impact.
Stormbirds: Growing through natural disaster was developed to respond to the Black Saturday bushfires that occurred in Victoria that year. Based on the evidence-based grief and loss program, Seasons for Growth, Stormbirds supports children and young people following a natural disaster. It is delivered from 3-12 months after a natural disaster, when children and families are coping with the changes within their family and lifestyle.
Donate today to help children cope with the trauma resulting from Australia’s bushfires this summer.
