Riley* and Max* are Jackie’s “forever babies.” When the boys were first placed in Jackie’s care, they were still infants. Nine years later the foster carer turned legal guardian says, “They’re not in care anymore. First and foremost, they have a family.”
Picture yourself as a baby like Max. A grim prognosis overshadows your first days of life. You’re born drug-dependent and end up with a fractured skull. Brain hematomas are the result.
Jackie braced herself for what the doctors said: "He's going to be in a wheelchair. He's most likely not going to be talking. Prepare yourself for anything."
So, Jackie left her job to be there for Max. Our foster carers at MacKillop deserve a medal.
That’s the cry in the heart of every child that enters in foster care. To belong to someone who cares for them. To be part of a family. To be loved.
We urgently need your help to recruit and train more foster carers while the number of children who need foster care is rising. With your gift today:
You help children caught up in neglect or abuse find their “forever home”
