For Sheila Dawson, including a gift to MacKillop in her Will is a family tradition.
Sheila explains, “Both my parents had a very strong sense of social justice and I think I have inherited this trait as well… My mother and I both wanted to make a difference to children who needed help. My mother left a bequest to MacKillop and I have decided to do the same.”
Sheila’s sense of social justice was a natural fit with MacKillop’s work, as she learned first-hand. After living next to a MacKillop residential care home for 20 years, she had a unique opportunity to interact with the children who lived in the home.
Influenced by this experience, Sheila reflects, “Love thy neighbour as they would love you—everyone is a neighbour. I feel I am leaving a legacy for the future and I would like to think this money is going to help children and do something positive for them.”
We are very grateful to Sheila. If you would like to join her in leaving a lasting legacy please call James on 03 8687 7449 to find out more. Or visit our Gift in Wills page.
