The Carer Recruitment Volunteer will be supporting our Carer Recruitment and Development Team with spreading the word of our Foster Care programs in Victoria.
The Carer Recruitment and Development team is responsible for the recruitment, training, assessment, development and retention of all foster carers within
MacKillop Family Services.
Your role
You will be supporting our Carer Recruitment and Development team with promoting the important message of foster care to individuals, businessesand households, locally in the regions mentioned above. You will achieve this by providing printed information and speaking to members of the community about our Foster Care program and the important work that MacKillop and Foster Carers do with our young people in care.
Possible tasks
Volunteer responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- delivering information and distributing promotional material to local businesses and households including letterbox drop offs
- speaking with interested community members about what MacKillop does and about the benefits of becoming a foster carer
- supporting the Carer Recruitment and Development team team in your local area with organising, setting up for and attendance at local events. This may include placing items in envelopes or showbags, preparing handouts, setting up marquees or tables on the MacKillop event site, attendance on the MacKillop site during events and decorating venue or office.
You will be required to:
- sign and actively abide by MacKillop’s Code of Conduct
- observe and actively support MacKillop’s P.8 People and Workplace Policy
- attend mandatory and other training as required
- participate in and promote continuous quality improvement processes
- promote an environment that is culturally safe and strengths focussed
- abide by principles and commitments of the Sanctuary Framework.
Key selection criteria
The Carer Recruitment Volunteer will need:
- understanding of and commitment to the values of MacKillop Family Services
- a passion for the work MacKillop does and a motivation for supporting our cause
- an open mind and the ability to adjust communication style to different audiences
- excellent communication skills
- ability to work autonomously
- an appreciation for walking several kilometres at a time through different neighbourhoods.
