Essendon local breaks down barriers through foster care

Posted on 11 Feb 2015

Essendon local Hanadi still had plenty of love to offer after her children had grown up and moved out. So, she decided to welcome a 13 year old girl in to her home.

Hanadi is urging more people to break the mould and consider foster caring with MacKillop Family Services in 2015.

Hanadi, a practicing Muslim describes her experience - “It’s wonderful to share something with a child who is not from my blood, background, religion or skin colour,” she said. “It proves to others that there can be equality between people, no matter their backgrounds.”

Hanadi runs her own business providing family day care so foster caring was an easy fit.

“Watching my foster child grow in confidence and happiness makes it all worthwhile.”

MacKillop foster carers have varied backgrounds, lifestyles and family situations. But all share a passion for improving the lives of children and young people.

MacKillop provides all foster carers with ongoing support, training and regular breaks.
