MacKillop welcomes child abuse inquiry report

Posted on 13 Nov 2013

MacKillop Family Services has welcomed the Family and Community Development Committee’s release of its report from the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into the Handling of Child Abuse by Religious and Other Non-Government Organisations entitled ‘Betrayal of Trust’.

“As I have previously stated any inquiry that aims to improve the law and to change practices, policies and protocols in regards to child abuse is to be welcomed and fully embraced by organisations working with children”, said MacKillop CEO Micaela Cronin.

Every effort should be made to better protect children and to ensure that instances of abuse are investigated thoroughly.

“Abuse of any kind is simply not acceptable and we hope that the report will provide the way forward in better protecting children and young people in our community”.
