Thank you Warrnambool

Posted on 16 Jan 2015

MacKillop Family Services would sincerely like to thank the Warrnambool community for their support with our first local Coast FM Christmas Gift Appeal.

Children in care often experience very little at Christmas making it a very difficult time.

The kindness of the community has allowed children in care to experience a wonderful Christmas.

“The generosity of the local community has really overwhelmed us, we never thought the appeal would be as successful as it was. It just goes to show you that community spirit is alive and well in Warrnambool” said Jaine Smiley, MacKillop’s Warrnambool Manager.

All gifts donated to the appeal went directly to children and young people in the local community.

Foster carers volunteer their time, effort and love to help change the lives of children and young people. MacKillop is still in need of foster carers to provide safe homes in the community.

Being a foster carer is one of the most important roles you can play. There is a critical shortage of foster homes in the area. Even the shortest period of time in your care can have a lifelong impact on a child.

MacKillop will be attending The Market (TM) at the Grandstand, Warrnambool Race Course this Saturday 17th January from 10 am to 3pm. Come down and visit our team to find out more.

“Our staff will be at the market all day talking to people about foster care. Foster Carers come in all shapes and sizes, and there are different types of foster care options. We will be on hand to answer any questions people have – there is no question too big or small, we have heard them all” said Jaine Smiley, MacKillop’s Warrnambool Manager.
