We assist families with children aged up to 18 years (including those with unborn children) living in the local government areas of:
- Moonee Valley
- Hobsons Bay
With a focus on building strong, flourishing families, our goal is to give parents the skills and confidence they need to raise healthy, happy children in a loving home environment.
Our support is:
- practical (parenting education/skills development and household management strategies)
- emotionally supportive (building on and developing existing relationships and strengths)
- culturally sensitive (connecting families with cultural groups and services in their communities)
- community focused (facilitating access to other community support services, if needed).
We also offer three types of parenting groups for families who live in Melbourne Metro West.
Sing&Grow Music Therapy Group
Through the sharing of both traditional and non-traditional children’s songs, Sing&Grow provides families with a safe space to interact in new and positive ways, to increase their confidence to use music and play at home, and to learn new ways to support child development. Children and parents are encouraged by the group facilitators to explore, learn and play in a developmentally stimulating, fun and musical environment.
Groups are held with up to 10 families who attend one-hour weekly sessions (generally over 8 weeks), participating in hands-on music activities that assist children with developmental skills and extend the repertory of parenting skills in relating to children through interactive play.
This course runs for eight consecutive weeks, for two hours at a time. It is available to the parents of children aged up to 5 years.
MoneyMinded is an education program that builds your knowledge and confidence to help you make informed decisions about how to manage money.
By participating in the MoneyMinded program you will learn techniques for effective budgeting, managing debt, smart banking and future planning including superannuation and saving.
This course runs for eight consecutive weeks, for two hours at a time. It is available to all parents and young people.
Circle of Security
The Circle of Security parenting course looks at how parents can build their relationship with their children and enhance attachment.
Studies show that infants and children who have secure attachment to their primary caregiver can develop more resilience, better social and problem-solving skills and higher self-esteem. This can assist children to maintain positive relationships throughout their lives.
This course runs for eight consecutive weeks, for two hours at a time. It is available to the parents of children aged up to 8 years.
