Partnering with families to build on strengths, overcome challenges and to build a positive and safe family environment.

Restoring Families works with families with children from birth to 17 years, families are referred by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, and other stakeholders.

The service is modelled on an integrated and an evidence-based/evidence-informed approach to support families to live together safely and decrease the risk of children and young people entering or re-entering care. Through the program, our practitioners work intensively with families for approximately six months, they have the flexibility to visit families’ multiple times a week to support their needs.

Incorporating our learnings from the success of our Cradle 2 Kinder program, we offer specialist intensive early intervention support services. This service aids families, parents, and carers to meet the development, health and wellbeing needs of their children from the prenatal stage through to 17 years of age.

In metropolitan regions, we offer Multisystemic Therapy (MST) and Multisystemic Therapy – Psychiatric (MST Psych) for families with children and young people aged 9 to 17 years. These evidence-based programs provide intensive, family-focused support in the home and community. MST helps families address behavioural and relational challenges, while MST Psych integrates intensive mental health treatment and systemic family practice to support young people experiencing significant mental health needs and their families.

The Restoring Families Service offers:

  • Information about childhood development and behaviours
  • Family and community relationships
  • Connection to culture and community
  • Access to services for the whole family
  • Opportunities for celebrating diversity.

In addition, MST provides:

  • Family counselling
  • 24/7 crisis support
  • Access to psychiatry services.

Our aim is to make it easy for families to access the service with flexible in-home visits that fit with family routines. Support is tailored to each family’s needs.
