The Strengthening Parent Support Program (SPSP) is a FREE state-wide program.
The program provides support and information for family carers, of a child or adult with disability or developmental delay.
What does the program offer?
- Regular opportunities to meet in a safe, relaxed, and inclusive setting
- Share experiences, learn from others, and form connections
- Groups are either peer-led or facilitator-led and coordinated by MacKillop Family Services
- Gain knowledge and develop skills to navigate the disability sector and to support the health and wellbeing of family carers
- Information sessions and workshops cover a range of topics, i.e. navigating NDIS, understanding Centrelink, accessing financial supports, managing carer stress, developing advocacy skills
- Assistance to link to relevant community supports and services
- One-to-one support.
Who is eligible?
- Family carers living in the following western metropolitan Melbourne areas of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Moonee Valley, and Wyndham
- The program is inclusive, so family carers do not require a formal diagnosis of their child’s disability or developmental delay to participate.
