At MacKillop Family Services, we know that carers play a vital role in creating safe, stable and nurturing environments for children and young people.
At MacKillop Family Services, we know that carers play a vital role in creating safe, stable and nurturing environments for children and young people. Their work is often demanding, and access to ongoing support and training is essential. That’s why we’ve developed the Carer Learning Hub, a new online platform designed to make learning more accessible for carers.
It is a purpose-built digital space that offers carers a flexible way to access training and resources. Whether they’re at home, at work, or managing the day-to-day responsibilities of caring, this platform allows them to learn at a time and pace that suits them.
The Carer Learning Hub was born out of a simple idea: to make learning more accessible for carers. We listened to carer feedback about the challenges of attending in-person training while juggling work, family, and caring responsibilities. In response, we created a solution that makes life easier.
From e-learning modules and videos to podcasts, guides, and pre-accreditation courses, the Hub offers the knowledge and tools needed to provide safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children and young people.
The platform also features a live Training Calendar, a library of Foster Care Newsletter editions, and personalised login access so carers can track their progress and revisit materials whenever it suits them.
Since its launch, the Carer Learning Hub has received strong positive feedback. Carers have told us they appreciate how easy the platform is to use, how simple it is to enrol in courses, and how intuitive the layout feels. Many have found it helpful to explore content based on their interests and needs, without the pressure of attending scheduled sessions.
This initiative reflects MacKillop’s commitment to listening to carers and responding to their needs. By removing barriers to learning, we’re helping carers feel more confident, supported and prepared in their roles.
The Carer Learning Hub is just one of the ways we’re working to strengthen the support system around children and young people in care. It’s a practical, thoughtful solution that recognises the realities of caring, and makes it easier for carers as they support children and young people to heal from trauma, and nurture our next generation.
