They spend time with the kids and that
may allow me to do my washing or do my
dishes,
so I'm still right there with them as
well,
but it's just having someone else to help
me and interact with my kids.
I'm Maori and my partner is Aboriginal so
we're getting help with learning more
about the Aboriginal culture and they've
also helped put my daughter in to take
care one day a week which has been
amazing.
I don't miss any of his, his milestones,
cool events of any sort and I'm learning
rodgery so that I can teach him our
native tongue.
It's amazing what commitment can do for a
young person,
what consistent staff who are willing to
go the extra mile.
And not just staff,
I think genuine carers.
I've noticed with Taylor,
her independence has grown so much.
Now she's listening, learning,
I'm looking at a completely different
girl and that's all because of here.
We've had a significant local engagement
really that's been driven by our
wonderful star who have built up great
networks and understandings of the local
community.
And they've brought people in for us to
to meet with,
to listen to build relationships that
really make sure that our work with
children and families improves in a way
that's respectful, relationship driven,
and provides us with opportunities to
really make a difference.
