MacKillop is sort of in my DNA is probably the best way to describe it. So the day I was born, I was placed into the care of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and I came through the whole out of home care system.
I'd like to know that there are children whose lives might be made a little bit better in some way.
My connection with MacKillop all the way through the out of home care system, MacKillop Family Services. So, it was a no brainer really for me to include it.
I think giving a gift in the Will is a contribution that the organisation can then take stock of and add to their income stream on a long-term basis. I think that's very valuable for an organisation with such a strong role as MacKillop Family Services.
What impact would I like my gift to have? It is important for me to know that the kids are getting the best care possible.
So, I think the impact that I would want my gift to MacKillop Family Services in my Will to make is to be able to support the voice of vulnerable kids.
The process began with discussion with the family and I think that's important - our kids are both capable adults and they know that any request is not going to go exclusively to them and they are totally in support of that.
The process of choosing to name MacKillop Family Services in my Will was really easy. I'm so proud of my association with MacKillop Family Services that I want to share my legacy with others
So, I'm proud to be able to make some difference in some children's lives.
The volunteers and the people that work for the organisation are a bit like, you know, consistent, positive adult role models and they're worth more than all the gold in the world.
