Volunteer Service

The Volunteer Service recruits, trains and coordinates volunteers to support families caring for a child or children with a disability in the Western Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.

What we can offer:

Our volunteers can assist with:

  • practical and emotional support to families
  • providing supervised children’s activities and driving assistance to families
  • working alongside staff in tutoring and homework groups
  • social support.

MacKillop volunteers are selected for their commitment to work as part of the team and their role complements that of other staff.  Our volunteers are trained, screened and supervised.  

Who is eligible?

This service is targeted towards the parents of a child (or children) with a disability aged up to 18 years, who are receiving support from MacKillop’s Disability Services and live in the Victorian local government areas of:

  • Brimbank
  • Hobsons Bay
  • Maribyrnong
  • Melbourne
  • Melton
  • Moonee Valley
  • Wyndham

How to access this service:

Parents who are currently supported by MacKillop’s Disability Services can talk to their case manager about how a volunteer could help.
