In-Home Support Volunteer (Community Programs)

In-Home Support Volunteer provide an important part in providing additional support to families assisted by MacKillop, in the north west of Melbourne, where there is a disability that is creating isolation and the risk of family breakdown.. 

This valuable support role may include:

  • providing assistance with the demands of parenting by visiting families in their home
  • interacting with children including assisting with reading and homework tasks
  • providing emotional support and companionship
  • helping with household management. 

MacKillop Volunteers are considered to be an integral part of our team and compliment the support provided by staff.

Our volunteers are provided with supervision and support, specific guidance when required as well as ongoing training.

Key criteria for all MacKillop volunteer positions include:

  • an ability to make a commitment and work as part of a team
  • a willingness to attend supervision and training
  • specific skills according to program needs
  • a commitment to the policies and values of MacKillop
  • willingness to undergo a Police Check and obtain a Working with Children Check.
