Weekend Live-In Foster Carers - Northern Melbourne

MacKillop Family Services is seeking positive role models (individuals or couples) to provide care for young people, aged 9-17 years, who live in foster care.

MacKillop has a new foster care model that allows full-time foster carers respite from Friday night to Sunday night.

We are recruiting and training foster care volunteers who live-in over the weekend. They are an integral part of the foster care team, maintaining the healing and supportive environment for the young people in care. They also run the house and oversee the child’s day-to-day needs.

The carer(s) will receive 24-hour on-call support, while staying in a fully maintained house with up to three children. Weekend carers will also receive substantial financial reimbursements to help with the costs of caring for the children.

We are looking for people with a friendly communication style, a sense of responsibility, excellent listening skills and a good sense of humour. Carers must be responsive rather than reactive during a crisis, and above all, be committed to the fulfilling the needs of young people who have experienced harm.

To apply email your updated CV and brief cover letter outlining your interest and specific skills you can bring to the role to malenie.racovalis@mackillop.org.au.

For further details please contact Malenie Racovalis or Bella Kelly on (03) 8398 6800.

We will provide more information about the role and training throughout the foster carer assessment process.
