MacKillop Family Services successfully launched its fifth MacKillop Education school and its fourth in Victoria.
MacKillop Education Clifton Hill, formally St. John's Primary School, is a Foundation to Year 12 school with a capacity of 80 enrolments. The new school opened for Term 3 on July 21 and joins our other MacKillop Education schools in responding to the growing need for education settings that support students with complex learning and emotional needs.
Director of MacKillop Education, Anne Henderson, said the new school is a vital response to increasing demand.
“We constantly get calls, at our other schools, from parents looking for a different learning environment for their child. This new location will allow us to support students whose learning needs or emotional challenges mean they need extensive adjustments made to the curriculum content, assessments, and to the physical environment.”
Ms Henderson adds, “At our schools, we believe in the vital role of education in fostering equity and equality. We are committed to supporting every student to reach their full potential through education.”
Deputy Principal of the Clifton Hill School Nicole O’Meara helped oversee a successful first week and has great hopes for the school’ s future going forward.
“The Clifton Hill campus came alive in our first week as our beautiful students started their formal classes,” she said.
“I am thrilled to work with our incredible staff to ensure the Clifton Hill Campus becomes a place where every young person feels safe and seen. We will provide a calm and inclusive space where healing begins and learning is possible.”
