Strategic Plan

Strategic planning is critical to MacKillop's development as an organisation and outlines the direction we will take in the coming years. It allows us to design, inform and provide the most effective services to vulnerable children, young people and families.

Our 2018-2020 Strategic Plan has been developed in the context of significant government reform taking place at state and national levels. The plan is founded on our purpose and values and is geared towards supporting families and young people earlier to prevent harm and improve outcomes.

Our Vision

All children, young people and families are safe, thriving and connected to culture and community. MacKillop Family Services will care compassionately, respond large-heartedly and advocate courageously.

Our Statement of Purpose

At MacKillop Family Services, we work for the rights of all children to be free to enjoy their childhood in a safe and loving home, where they are nurtured and have a sense of belonging and cultural identity. Our work is underpinned by: strong governance; a deep commitment to social justice; to families; to the prevention of harm; and to practice based on research evidence. Through collaboration we promote the national development of skilled responses to trauma and loss, and advocate for the rights of marginalised people.

What we aim to achieve

Our strategic plan outlines the following three goals:

  1. Grow the capacity and reach of programs to empower children, young people and families to be safe, thriving and connected to culture and local community.
  2. Be a national leader in the development of research, evidence-based practice and training to shape government initiatives and improve outcomes.
  3. Deepen our commitment to cultural safety and expand our support for Aboriginal self-determination and reconciliation through our connection with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and responding to invitations from local Aboriginal communities to build respectful partnerships.
